Horace Corbett Jr. grew up on an Oregon cattle ranch before enrolling at WSC from 1940-41. A fighter pilot in the U.S. Army Air Forces, Corbett was killed over southern Germany on January 6, 1944.
Description: 

Horace Sumner Corbett, Jr. grew up on a cattle ranch in the small southern Oregon town of Tiller.  During his year at WSC from summer 1940 to fall 1941, Corbett enrolled in the general studies program and joined the Kappa Sigma fraternity.  He joined the U.S. Army Air Forces in November 1941, married in July 1942, and had a son in October 1943.  A fighter pilot with the 15th Air Force in Italy, Corbett was killed in a raid over southern Germany on January 6, 1944.  He is buried in the Sicily-Rome American Cemetery in Nettuno, Italy.
